First Circular (October 29, 2017): Convocation of the Congress
On April 1, 1939, the Spanish Civil War officially ended. When the 80 years of the end of the contest are to be fulfilled, the Centre for Studies and documentation of the International Brigades, Joint Research Centre of the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the Institute of Albacete Studies (CSIC), based in Albacete, has organized this Congress in commemoration of the 80 anniversary of the farewell of the International Brigades. On October 29, 1938, Juan Negrín, President of the Council of Ministers of the Second Spanish Republic, pronounced the speech "health, Friends of Spain", which closed the acts in honor and farewell of the Brigades, who came from many parts of the world to fight Favor of the Republic and they had their base of organization and training in Albacete. The main objective of this scientific meeting is to analyze the new perspectives and scientific contributions on the Spanish War, in order to contribute to its explanation as soon as the 80 anniversary of its completion is celebrated.

. D. PROPAGANDA. Propaganda action. Tracking the war abroad. The role of the media. War reporters. The art of propaganda.
. E. Battle pieces. Experience of war from below. The figure of the combatant. The mobilization of war and its social implications. Political socialization of the combatants. The evolution of the war violence and the policies of occupation according to the development of the conflict. Transformation of the way of war. Relations between front and rear.

An appeal is made to the entire scientific and academic community to participate in the Congress with their presence in the official sessions and with their contributions, through ponenciaslibres focused on publicizing the studies and research they are conducting. . It can be presented to any of the formal sessions stipulated (A/K), although it opens the possibility of being able to present papers not directly related to the previous lines of investigation but for its methodological novelty and special relevance They can be accepted in the official sessions, as long as they refer to the theme of the Congress.
To select those that will be presented in the Congress and subsequently published, the deadline for the reception of summaries of 600 words at maximum and 400 at least, which will include objectives, content and sources to be used, is opened. The Scientific Committee, in charge of the selection, fundamentally evaluates the originality, thoroughness, methodology and research sources. In the local studies it will be valued that its objective transcends the local history to connect it with a more general interpretation and the use of the compared method. We will try to get a balanced number of papers per session. The papers may be presented in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Portuguese. The registration fee for speakers will be established when the registration and registration period for the Congress is opened.
Prior to the summary, the name and title of the author (s), organization to which it is linked, employment category, postal address, contact telephone, e-mail address and sesiónoficial to which the paper is presented (A/K) shall be included. Papers not included in any of the previous sessions shall be identified by the letter V. After the summary, a brief curriculum of no more than one page will be incorporated, specifying, among other issues, the main publications related to the subject. The name of the Word file will be that of the first surname of the author preceded by the letter of the official session (e.g.: A-Lopez).

Once the Congress is concluded, the organising committee, on the proposal of the Scientific Committee, reserves the right to exclude from publication the Ponenciasdefinitivas submitted for lack of rigour and scientific or editorial quality, even if they have passed The selection and presentation procedures.

The definitive programme of the Congress will consist of invited papers and free papers. It will be made public before the end of June 2018. The organizing committee reserves the right to reduce, modify or extend the official sessions proposed in this first circular for organisational reasons.
The Congress is organized by the Center of Studies and Documentation of the International Brigades (CEDOBI) and by the International network of Studies on the Spanish Civil War (INSCIWar). It will have an organizing committee and a scientific Committee, to be made public on the website.
- November 16, 2017: Opening of the deadline for submitting summaries with the proposal for a paper (between 400 and 600 words).
- 30 April 2018: Maximum period of receipt of summaries (between 400 and 600 words) with the proposal for a presentation.
- 30 May 2018: Maximum period for acceptance of the free papers selected and referral of the rules of presentation and editing for publication (more or less between 8,000 and 10,000 words, notes included).
- June 30, 2018: Publication of the definitive program of the Congress.
- October 1, 2018: Definitive reception of the text of the free papers selected to be presented personally in the sessions of the Congress. Non-referral in this period is a cause of exclusion in the submission and publication. After the Congress, the organization will be able to open a short time for small changes arising from the sessions and debates.
- 29 and 30 October 2018: Celebration of the Congress in Albacete.
- April 1, 2019: Presentation of the publication of the Proceedings of the Congress.
